Note: I wanted to do something different so I challenged myself using each of the five senses as prompts, each prompt being connected by chronological order.

Also, you're Roy Mustang's childhood friend-turned first love-turned comrade-turned lover-turned what are you both even anymore...??

- Touch -

You vaguely remembered the first time Roy touched you.

You were both from the same neighborhood and the only kids about the same age. For years you both often spent your afternoons playing in the local park, dreaming about the future and where you'll be when you grow up.

Roy cheekily grinned, holding out a flower for you.

"W-what? For me?" you asked, surprised the boy is giving you a gift.

"You're my best and only friend! So, yeah. Take it!" he shoved the flower towards you.

You beamed upon taking the flower in your hands, jumping up and down. You stopped after he grabbed your hand, pulling you with him.

"Where are we going?" you tilted your head, confused as Roy suddenly stopped walking. He abruptly turned around and sloppily kissed you, leaving you shocked and bewildered.

"Roy Mustang, you stole my first kiss!!" you cried, punching his arm.

"H-Hey, it was mine too!" he yelled back. "It's cuz' I like you, [First name]!"

You stopped hitting him, blushing as you held the flower tightly in your arms. "Really?"

"Uh-huh!" he nodded, worried you're about to reject his feelings.

"Well, I like you too," you said, skipping ahead of him.

Roy ran after you, wanting to hold your hand again. He held your hand in his, not wanting to let go. You both shared a smile, knowingly accepting each other's feelings, unaware of what would happen in years to come.

- Smell -

You loved how he smelled, a mix of cologne and aftershave.

You were looking down at some papers, but smelled something vaguely familiar. You closed your eyes, took a deep breath and sighed as the familiar scent came wallowing through.

"You're doing it again, Lieutenant Colonel."

You opened your eyes while sitting at your desk, surprised to see that Roy was visiting your office.

"Doing what?" you asked, hoping he wouldn't dwell on the subject. He took a seat in front of your desk and sat down, crossing his legs. You took a deep breath and sighed once more after taking another whiff of his scent.

"That. You always do that while I'm visiting," Roy smirked with a glint in his eyes.

"Sure, you're delusional Colonel Mustang," you shuddered before rolling your shoulders, leaning back in your chair. "So what brings you here to Central?"

"Can't I see a friend for the sake of old times?" Roy leaned forward, pressing his feet firmly on the floor as he got back up. "And the Fuhrer needed to see me."

"Well, stay out of trouble," you said, returning to work right after Roy left your office.

- Taste -

You had nearly forgotten his taste.

The last thing you wanted was to end up in bed with him, aware that if you were both caught you'd both be opening yourselves up to the possibility of a court-martial. But the moment you saw how lost he was after Hughes' death, you didn't know of any other way to comfort him. Your conscience was telling you to stop, but with his flesh against yours and his mouth begging for entrance, you couldn't help yourself.

Once daybreak arrived, you still found yourself wrapped in his arms.

"I'm being transferred to Central," Roy murmured, gently licking the side of your neck before sucking on a small patch of skin.

"Roy, d-don't do that," you moaned. "It'll bruise and then I'll get questioned. Others will see."

"Then let them."

You looked at him questioningly until you saw something that you haven't seen in years. You didn't want to ask, but somehow you already knew the answer.

Roy was still in love with you, and being able to taste every inch of you was his way of conveying his feelings.

- Sight -

When Roy regained his eyesight, what fell before him took him by surprise.

Days after no longer being handicapped, Roy saw that you were turning in your military papers and officially retiring.

As much as your heart wanted you to stay, being able to help Roy and the Elric brothers defeat Father and the homunculi triggered something within you. You felt you were no longer necessary. You wanted to live life normally, whatever normalcy was.

"You're leaving?" Roy asked, aware you opted to forgo any ceremony for your retirement. He knew you wanted your retirement to be as quiet as possible, but he always had a way for finding things out.

He caught up with you outside Central Headquarters, right off of the military property.

"Yes. I'm..." you paused. "I'm officially retired from the military. I no longer have a place here. This decision to leave was made not too long ago. You wanted me to 'help you rise to the top' and I did what I could. Unfortunately, being made aware that you refused the position as Fuhrer was more than enough reason for me to leave."

Roy frowned, removing his hands from his uniform pockets. "[First name], what are you going to do now?"

"I don't know, maybe travel. Find a job, maybe even get myself a husband," you teased.

His frown furthered deep into a scowl. You saw how frustrated he was, but decided to shrug it off.

You sighed, waving at him before starting to walk in the opposite direction. "I'm thinking of moving down to Dublith. A resort town seems befitting for a woman like myself."

"Don't go," he said. "I need you."

You bit your lip, pausing for a moment before proceeding in the direction of the train station.

"I'm sorry."

Roy hunched his shoulders before looking down, regretful of how he treated you for all of the years he's known you. He wanted to apologize for all the years he caused you grief, for seeking pleasure as a womanizer and leaving you brokenhearted.

He shut his eyes tightly, feeling a tear slip with the very thought you might be out of his life forever. Then, he felt something familiar rest against his lips. He opened his eyes, surprised to see what's in front of him.

You were leaning up, kissing him gently. You pulled away and reached up to touch his face.

"Wait for me," you whispered, letting go before you finally left.

Roy didn't get a chance to reply, but was relieved to know this wouldn't be the end. You both had a lot of unresolved matters to attend to.

- Hearing -

Receiving an early morning phone call from you left Roy anxious.

He was surprised to hear that you were enjoying your life in Dublith, joking that you'd probably never leave. He hoped you weren't grounded because he wanted you back in Central; he wanted you home.

His subordinates thought he would've fallen back into the habits they were most aware of, but no, he didn't take any woman out on a date. His reputation as a womanizer subsided, causing them to worry. They even began to think he was 'married to work', spending long hours in the office instead of enjoying daily strolls.

On that very same day Roy received the phone call from you, he was left in much contemplation. Once afternoon arrived he granted himself leave, leaving responsibilities to the ever-so-loyal Hawkeye while he was gone. He needed some time to think.

He wished, oh how he wished, he was like the child version of himself; the confident boy who was able to confess his feelings to you. Now, as a grown man, he was scared.

He became a womanizer because he was afraid of falling in love again. But years ago, on that tender night shared right after Hughes' death, his suppressed feelings for you had returned.

"Roy, I'm back."

He couldn't believe what he was hearing. He could've sworn you were still in Dublith.

"Oh, don't look so shocked. I was calling you from the train!" you giggled, placing down your suitcase. "You sounded so despondent, so unlike the Roy Mustang that I know. I knew I had to see you the moment I got back."

Roy hastened his pace to your side, pulling you into his arms. He rested his forehead against yours before capturing your lips with his. He was longing for this moment of your return.

"Welcome home."

You smiled at him as no other words were spoken. You were both enamored, not wanting to let the other go. You both knew you needed each other; you just weren't aware of what was on Roy's mind.

He was still feeling the aftereffects of your the departure from the military, mainly because he'd often have thoughts of being able to do something he would've never been able to do had you not quit. Now that you're with him, even if it took a few more months or even a year, Roy knew that one day he'd be able to ask your hand in marriage.

One day.
Whelp. There it goes, another Roy Mustang fic. What even, lol...
