You're staring at the lake, taking some time to yourself as the Shepherds are settling at camp.

You gently rub your temple with your index finger and thumb as your migraine returns. The sleepless nights and ongoing battles have affected your mental state as you often find yourself undergoing stress. You don't want to worry anyone whenever you feel ill, so usually you try to distance yourself so that you don't raise a concern.

Hearing the background noise coming from camp, you walk away in hopes the only noise you hear is that of nature. After about thirty minutes, you come to realize that you're lost.

Suddenly, you feel a brisk wind and raindrops.

"Oh no... this can't be good."

------

Chrom assists his men in tying down the tents as the rain and wind start to pick up.

"Milord, all Shepherds have been accounted for except for one," Frederick says calmly, though his expression says otherwise.

Chrom nods at Stahl and goes over to Frederick inside the nearby tent so he can clearly hear who has gone missing. "Who?"

"[Name]. Our tactician can't be found."

"She said she needed some time alone by the lake? Are you sure you didn't check there?"

"There were no traces of her. Now that a storm is happening, any footsteps that could've led to her current location have been rained out."

"Damn it...she must be all alone caught in this storm!" Chrom cries out, worrying that you've gone missing.

"Would you like for me to send a search group for her?"

CRASH.

Alarmed by the sound of thunder, Chrom runs out with his falchion.

"I'll handle this."

What if you're lost?

What if you've been ambushed?

What if something worse had happened?

------

You continue to walk until you find an abandoned cabin. You take out a fruit knife, scolding yourself for not having a proper weapon on hand in case you encounter any enemies. You slowly open the door, seeing that there's no traces of any life inside. You notice a nearby lamp and fiddle with it, relief taking over as you see that it's still working. You put your fruit knife away as you sense no anomaly nearby.

You go over to the logs by the fireplace and create a fire, hoping to warm yourself up until the rain subsides. You place your damp jacket on the chair and search through the drawers, finding a dry wool blanket. You wave it once in case there's any dust that collected on it and wrap it around your body as you sit on the floor.

Part of you has some hope that the others have realized you haven't returned to camp, that you have gone missing.

Your mind wanders off to Chrom, whom you share amorous feelings with. You both confessed your love to each other only a few weeks before, but have yet to act on them. You usually feel that there's no time for love on the battlefield, but today you feel different. You snap out of your current thoughts and worry for a moment.

"He'd probably do something irrational and set off to search for me on his own!" you agonize at the thought, shivering while sitting by the fire.

You slowly close your eyes, drifting off to sleep until...

KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK.

You jump up, quickly reaching for the fruit knife. You slowly walk towards the front door, hoping it wasn't an enemy that found you. You glance out the window and internally curse at yourself for being unable to see who is at the door.

KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK.

The sound grows louder and echoes inside the cabin. You have no choice but to answer the door.

You open it and find Chrom.

"[Name]," Chrom enters the cabin and pulls you into his arms, getting you drenched. "I was so worried!"

You're in shock that he's embracing you, but return the favor by wrapping your arms around his torso before immediately pulling away.

"You're entirely soaked! We need to get you dry so you don't get sick," you scold him. "Do you know your way back?"

Chrom closes the door and shakes his head. "About that..."

"You went on a search for me but can't even find your way back to camp. Great," you sigh, assisting him in removing his armor. All that remains on his body are his pants as he lays the rest of his clothing out to dry.

You pull Chrom's arm and settle by the fireplace, wrapping the large blanket around the both of you.

"Thank goodness this is large enough for the two of us," you say, a bit nervous about being too physically close to Chrom.

"You shouldn't stay so far, though," Chrom lowers his voice. "You're really cold."

"And so are you," you reply back, a bit surprised when Chrom pulls you closer towards him. You blush as he wraps his arms around your shoulders, the wool blanket enveloping the two of you. You adjust your seating on the floor and stare at the flickering fire, finding comfort in his warmth.

"I'm sure Frederick and the others will find us after the storm settles down," Chrom rests his head against yours. He turns to look at you, trying to read your thoughts. "Is something the matter?"

"We've already seen each other in the nude accidentally. Not only that, we confessed our feelings for each other not too long ago. Now here we are, half-naked, lost and in the middle of the nowhere while trying to keep warmth in the middle of a rainstorm. It makes for quite the unconventional love story," you tease, hoping to lighten up the atmosphere a bit.

You feel his chest rumble as a few laughs escape. "But we haven't kissed."

"No we haven't," you trail off, turning your head to look at him. You witness Chrom staring at your lips for a moment.

"Can we?"

You nod as your eyes grow hazy. You tilt your head a bit, feeling pressure against your lips as Chrom kisses you. You rest your hands on his chest as you deepen the kiss, gasping for air as Chrom pulls away and places tender kisses along your neck. The strap to your shirt slips off your left shoulder, resulting in more kisses from your shoulder down to your collarbone. Chrom returns to kiss you once more on the lips before adjusting your strap.

"I'm sorry. I almost lost self-control," Chrom says, resting his forehead against yours.

You adjust yourself, sitting in his lap as you find yourself warmer than earlier. "I didn't mind. I just don't think us being alone in an abandoned cabin is a proper setting for making love."

"Y-yes, I agree," Chrom blushes and agrees. "Though do you think it's a ideal location for a first kiss?"

"You have a point," you reply after seeing his confusion. "I guess not."

Chrom sighs while pulling you closer, watching the flames as you fall asleep in his arms.

------

The rain had stopped late into the night, and somehow you and Chrom are now sneaking back into camp hand-in-hand.

"Milord, I was just about to initiate a search and rescue," Frederick says, relief plastered on his face as he sees you and Chrom. "Where were you?"

"We were seeking shelter. There was an abandoned cabin in the middle of the forest," Chrom states. You attempt to let go of Chrom's hand, surprised that he tightened his grasp on yours.

"Do you need medical attention?" Frederick asks.

"We're fine, not to worry. Now excuse us, we need some rest," Chrom says, not caring that he's leading you to his tent.

Frederick doesn't ask, recognizing that Chrom has found love in their tactician. A gentle smile rests upon Frederick's face as he already knows what he has to do--ensure that you and Chrom aren't found out nor the center of gossip amongst the Shepherds. Even if the news did get out that you are involved with the Ylissean prince, the blooming romance and possibility of marriage would bring much joy to everyone in the midst of war.
I miss Chrom. I'm still in the middle of replaying Awakening, but I always get drawn back in to playing Fates these days. Whoops.
